Last Muskie of the season last Fall.

Clean water vs Dirty water
Lures in clear water vs. off color water’s
It has been my experience that I have had more big fish up behind smaller baits in clear water than the bigger lures. I have tried to keep a record of this over the years but more importantly I have tried to figure out why;
I have the feeling that the bigger lures just don’t have the same drawing power of the smaller baits in clean water. In the stained water I think the bigger and loudest lures work much better.
The biggest percentage of my big Muskie have come on 3 inch spoons and body baits like the Rapala Super Shad and that is not a big bait. The 4 inch Cranes and the smaller Grandmas and Jakes have attracted more fish for me than the larger models in the clean water.
I like fishing clear water better as you get to see more of the action. It might be that I have more confidence in the smaller baits also therefore I more than likely use them more.
Keep track your self and see if the water makes a difference for you. Good Fishing in 2009. Bob Brunner

Busy
Sorry about not posting for some time. Have been busy making Buck Tails and doing Shows. Have one next week in Novi Mi. called OutdoorRama.
The new leaderless Buck tails have been doing well. A lot of fish where taken on them this last Fall. The Worlds First Leaderless and the Worlds Best Hand Tied Buck Tail is the Brunner Runner. I put a lot of time on these and they have changed quite a bit over the years.
I'm going to do an article soon about big and small lures in clear water.
